Earth, Wind & Car Fire began as a 10-minute anecdote at a 2017 storytelling showcase and has since grown into a full-length, one-woman journey... an intimate exploration of love, identity, race, and the winding road that shaped me.
I expanded the piece in April 2025 for the Black Queer Studies 25th Anniversary Conference at UNC–Chapel Hill, where the response helped carry the show into its next phase.
Since then, Earth, Wind & Car Fire has been performed at the 2025 Hollywood Fringe Festival, the inaugural Un-Erasable Solo Festival in Inglewood, and the Binge Fringe Festival of Free Theatre at the historic Santa Monica Playhouse.
The show will next appear on October 30, 2026 at the United Solo Festival in New York, the largest solo theatre festival in the world.
What started as a single story has become a movement... one built on truth, resilience, humor, and the courage to finally set yourself free.
